Texas Energy Grid and the Hunt for Stranded Power
The Chairman of the Texas Energy Committee explains that data center developers are flocking to Texas to "hunt" for stranded power—excess energy from wind and solar farms that cannot reach the main grid due to line congestion. Despite a projected need for 10 additional gigawatts, developers have proposed nearly 500 gigawatts of new projects. Senate Bill 6 was passed to slow this development as the state lacks the infrastructure to support the massive electrical demand.
