T-Mobile SHAFT Policy, SMS Content Monitoring Rumors
Viral social media reports claim T-Mobile will begin fining users up to $3,500 for private text messages containing "SHAFT" content (Sex, Hate, Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco) starting January 1, 2024. Investigation reveals these regulations are actually part of long-standing CTIA guidelines for Application-to-Person (A2P) commercial messaging and do not apply to private consumer-to-consumer texts.
