U.S. soldiers from the 3rd Infantry Division participated in live-fire exercises in Poland near the Suwalki Gap, a strategic 40-mile strip between Kaliningrad and Belarus. Military planners view this area as NATO's "Achilles heel" in the event of a Russian incursion. Colonel Martin O'Donnell warned that funding for these critical exercises and support for Ukrainian forces could run out by summertime if Congress does not approve new funds.
