Senator Rand Paul has called for a freeze on all U.S. aid to Pakistan until the release of Dr. Shaquille Afridi, who assisted the CIA in locating Osama bin Laden. Paul argued that the U.S. should not provide billions in annual assistance to a government that tortures individuals who aid American priorities. The Obama administration currently provides approximately $2.1 billion in annual aid to the country.
