The Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, in partnership with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, conducted a tabletop exercise titled "Catastrophic Contagion" in October 2022. The simulation focuses on a fictional pandemic caused by "Severe Epidemic Enterovirus Respiratory Syndrome 2025" (SEERS). The exercise models a virus originating in Latin America that specifically impacts children and young people.
