Russia exercised its veto power at the UN Security Council to block the creation of an international tribunal to prosecute those responsible for the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17. The Russian ambassador argued the move was politically motivated and outside the UN's jurisdiction. Concerns are raised regarding the transparency of the Dutch Safety Board's ongoing investigation, led by Tjibbe Joustra.
