Health officials in New York City are investigating a mysterious inflammatory syndrome in children that may be linked to COVID-19. The illness resembles Kawasaki disease, with symptoms including persistent fever, rash, and heart inflammation. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) includes a new classification called Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD). This diagnosis is intended for children previously misdiagnosed with ADHD or pediatric bipolar illness.
