1414: Coof Croup

New York Hospitalization Reporting, Governor Kathy Hochul

Governor Kathy Hochul announced that New York hospitals must now distinguish between patients admitted "for" COVID-19 and those admitted "with" COVID-19 for unrelated reasons. This reporting change follows estimates that 20% to 50% of positive patients in some hospitals are incidental cases, such as accident victims who test positive upon routine screening. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis noted a similar trend in Miami, where roughly half of COVID-positive patients were not being treated for the virus.
