French Variant Mutations, Southern France IHU Discovery
Scientists in southern France are tracking a new COVID-19 variant, dubbed IHU, which contains 46 mutations. Although it has been present for nearly a month and infected at least 12 people, it does not currently appear to be outcompeting the Omicron variant. Experts remain cautiously optimistic as the variant has not shown signs of rapid international spread.
