Ursula von der Leyen, SWIFT Disconnection, Golden Passports
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced the disconnection of select Russian banks from the SWIFT international payment system. The EU is also moving to paralyze the assets of the Russian Central Bank and end "golden passports" that allow wealthy Russians to buy European citizenship. A transatlantic task force will be established to identify and freeze the assets of sanctioned individuals.
