Following a tragic nightclub fire in Volendam, a host funded the construction of a private heliport in Amsterdam to assist Lifeline medical helicopters. At the time, medical flights were restricted from landing at Schiphol after 7 p.m., delaying critical care for burn victims. The heliport, which required moving a windmill for flight path clearance, was eventually sold for one euro to ensure its continued operation for emergency services.
