The European Union issued a surprise 2.1 billion euro budget surcharge to the United Kingdom, sparking outrage from Prime Minister David Cameron. The surcharge resulted from a recalculation of Gross National Income (GNI) that included previously unreported sectors like drugs and prostitution. Nigel Farage and Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė also commented on the fiscal dispute, which affected the Netherlands and Italy as well.
