Druze Minority, Syrian Conflict and Israeli Border Clashes
Israeli forces conducted airstrikes on the Syrian Ministry of Defense in Damascus, claiming the site was used to direct operations against the Druze minority in the Suwayda region. The Druze, a monotheistic group with roots in Shia Islam, have been caught in the conflict between the Syrian government and various rebel factions. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Israeli Druze citizens not to cross the border to join the fighting, as hundreds attempted to enter Syria to support their ethnic kin.
